Hotel Management   
Undergraduate programmes

At the undergraduate level, the following degree and diploma courses are offered for study
  • Degree/diploma in Hotel Management
  • Degree in Hotel Administration
  • Diploma in Hotel Management, Catering Technology and Applied Nutrition
Entry

Admission to undergraduate programmes for the 19 government-run Institutes of Hotel Management, Catering Technology and Applied Nutrition is done through a joint entrance test conducted by the National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology, New Delhi. Students who have completed 10+2 with 50% aggregate marks (45% for SC/ST candidates) in any stream including vocational are eligible to apply. The age limit is 22 years. The all India entrance test is held in April each year.

Private institutes such as the Welcome Group Graduate School of Hotel Administration, Manipal and the Indian Institute of Hotel Management (affiliated to the Taj Group of Hotels), Aurangabad hold separate entrance exams, followed by an interview.

Entrance exams - both by the National Council and private institutions - mainly test candidates in the following subjects
  • English language
  • Numerical aptitude
  • Scientific aptitude
  • Logical reasoning
  • General awareness
Postgraduate programmes

At the postgraduate level, several specialized areas of study are available. Courses offered include
  • PG Diploma in Travel and Tourism
  • PG Diploma in Tourism and Hotel Management
  • PG Diploma in Front Office, Management and Tourism
  • PG Diploma in Hotel Reception and Book keeping
  • PG Diploma in Front Office Operation and Hotel Accounting
  • PG Diploma in Housekeeping
  • PG Diploma in Dietetics
  • PG Diploma in Food Production and Management
  • PG Diploma in Cookery, Bakery, Restaurant and Counter Service
  • PG Diploma in Canning and Food Processing
  • PG Diploma in Teacher's Training for Hotel Management
